Below are the steps on how to disable Autoplay in Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro.
- Click Start > Run > type “gpedit.msc” .
- At (Left Pane) Click Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System.
- At (Right Pane) Set “Turn off autoplay” to “Enabled” and select Turn off Autoplay on: All Drives.
Below are the steps on how to disable Autoplay in Windows Vista.
- Click Start > Run > type “gpedit.msc” .
- At (Left Pane) Click Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Autoplay Policies.
- At (Right Pane) Set “Turn off autoplay” to “Enabled” and select Turn off Autoplay on: All Drives.
Below are the steps on how to disable Autoplay in Windows XP Home Edition.
1. Copy & Paste the following into Notepad:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
“NoDriveTypeAutoRun”=dword:000000b5
2. Save as a registry (.reg) file
3. Run the file.
