How to uninstall Windows Live Essentials

This article will help you uninstall the Windows Live Essentials 2009/2011 suite or products that you can select from a list. Below you’ll find 3 different options how to do so:

1. Via Control Panel (recommended)

2. Manually launch the un-installation wizard

3. Uninstall via CMD line options

We suggest you to perform one option at a time starting from the top and if you have successfully removed Windows Live Essentials 2009/2011 no further steps are necessary.

1. Via Control Panel is the simplest way to uninstall Windows Live Essentials in Windows Vista/7:

a. Click on Windows Start

b. Select Control Panel and when viewed by Category go to Programs and click on Uninstall a program. When viewed by Large or Small icons select and click on Programs and Features

c. To uninstall select from the list Windows Live Essentials 2009 or 2011

d. Select Remove one or more Windows Live programs and select all programs and hit uninstall.

Repair all Windows Live programs would start reinstalling all Windows Live programs

Note: If the uninstallation process ended without any errors Windows Live Essentials has been removed successfully and you don’t need to continue with the below steps

2. Manually launch the un-installation wizard:

In case Windows Live Essentials is not listed in Programs and Features window or it is listed but the dialog box (above left picture) after a double click on Windows Live Essentials does not appear you can manually launch the un-installation wizard by following these steps:

a. In Windows XP, Click on Start and then click on Run and type %programfiles%\Windows Live\Installer (or copy and paste) and press OK
In Windows Vista/7 (32 bit), Click Start and type %programfiles%\Windows Live\Installer into the Search text box and hitEnter

For Windows 64 bit versions, Click Start and type %programfiles(x86)%\Windows Live\Installer on the Search text box and then hit Enter

b. Double click on wlarp.exe and select the option Remove one or more Windows Live programs (see left picture)

c. Select the product(s) you want to uninstall and click on Uninstall (see right picture)

Note: If you select all products Windows Live Essentials will be uninstalled

      d.   Follow the Onscreen instructions

Note: If the uninstallation process ended without any errors Windows Live Essentials has been removed successfully and you don’t need to continue with step 3

3. Uninstall via CMD line options:

a. Go to Start ->All Programs ->Accessories

b. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator

c. Run the following commands to uninstall Windows Live Essentials:

· (64 bit) "c:\program files (x86)\windows live\installer\wlarp.exe" /cleanup:all /q

· (32 bit) "c:\program files\windows live\installer\wlarp.exe" /cleanup:all /q

d. The below status window appears:

Note: The uninstaller for Windows Live Essentials 2011 only can be downloaded from

http://g.live.com/1rewlive4arp/wlarp.exe

if the local copy is corrupted.
